Kim Ha-seong (16 years old) won first place for his logical expression of his process of exploring his identity under the theme of 'My Dream, My Country'.
The 1st to 3rd place winners were invited to the 45th Korean Day event held that afternoon to show off their achievements in front of Koreans again.
My Dream International Foundation (Chairman Son Chang-hyun) held the 2nd Chile Youth Dream Presentation Festival on Saturday, November 9th to support the dreams of the next generation of Korean youth living in Chile. Hosted by the Chile Korean Language School (Principal Yu Mi) and sponsored by the Chile Korean Association (Chairman Nam Do-woo), this event was attended by My Dream International Foundation Chairman Son Chang-hyun, Public Relations Director Park Young-hee, and Argentina Branch Manager Kim So-young who visited Chile in person to serve as judges and encourage the students.
The 10 finalists who passed the preliminary round last September ranged in age from 12-year-olds in the 6th grade to high school freshmen, and each announced their dreams for the future through special professions such as veterinarian, programmer, astronomer, translator, and novelist.
Kim Ha-seong (16 years old), who won first place in this competition, received high scores for his logical expression of his experience of reflecting on how to connect his dream between the country he currently lives in and the country he feels in his heart, which is too obvious to some, through the theme of “My Dream, My Country.”
Kim Ha-on (13 years old), who won second place, expressed her aspiration to become a 'doctor who heals the mind' so that children with mental illness or developmental difficulties can dream and grow up happier, as she came to understand her older sister who is developmentally slow.
Kim Sia (16 years old), who won third place, confidently announced that she would continue to work hard because her belief that if she does her best at some point, she will be rewarded, is the “most important value I believe in,” rather than a specific career or hope for the future.
The winners were invited to the 45th Korean Day in Chile ceremony at 4:00 PM that day, attended by Ambassador to Chile Kim Hak-jae as a distinguished guest, where they had the opportunity to present their awards in front of many Koreans and enjoy the joy of receiving the award. At the event, Chairman Son Chang-hyun stated, “We will continue to support the next generation of Koreans around the world so that they can continue to pursue their dreams for the future with leadership, and we will continue to support the next generation network led by the selected scholarship recipients,” and emphasized that for this to happen, Koreans in Chile should watch with interest and encourage them.
Choi Jin-ok, the Chile branch director of the My Dream International Foundation, which hosted this competition, said, “It was impressive to see that they were designing their dreams and future with their own stories, without relying on what their parents or society usually wanted,” and announced that she would strengthen cooperation with branch directors in the region so that it can grow into a South American regional competition in the future.
Established in 2012, My Dream International Foundation holds the Youth Dream Presentation Festival every year to discover next-generation talent and support their dreams through global scholarship programs to help Korean youth around the world become global leaders.
